If you've heard of the Emotion Code but aren't quite sure what to make of it, you're in good company. It sits in a space that can feel both intriguing and a little unclear. This guide is meant to be straightforward — no mystifying language, no promises of miracles. Just a clear picture of the practice and how I use it.
What the Emotion Code is
The Emotion Code is a method developed to identify and release what it describes as trapped emotional energy — emotions that, according to the framework, were felt but not fully processed at the time, and so became held in the body. The method uses muscle testing (a form of biofeedback) and a chart of emotions to identify what may be ready to release.
The Body Code extends this approach to a broader range of imbalances, and the Belief Code works with deeply held belief patterns. Together, they form a family of energy-work modalities that explore emotional and energetic patterns at a subtler level than conversation alone.
Energy work doesn't replace reflection — it often makes reflection easier by clearing what's been in the way.
What it isn't
It's important to be clear about what the Emotion Code is not. It is not a medical treatment, a diagnosis, or a cure for any physical or mental health condition. It does not replace the care of a qualified health professional. If you are navigating a health concern, please consult one.
It's also not magic. Sessions don't erase your history or your patterns. What they can do is create space — a sense of lightness or clarity that makes the reflective work of change feel more possible.
What a session is actually like
A session is calm and surprisingly simple. Using muscle testing and a structured set of questions, I work to identify emotions or patterns that may be ready to release. You don't have to narrate your history or even answer questions verbally. Many people are struck by how little talking is required — and how much can shift.
Afterward, people often describe feeling lighter, more settled, or noticing that something they'd been carrying for a long time feels less charged. The shifts are sometimes subtle and sometimes unmistakable. Either way, the work tends to support — not replace — the changes you're making in your everyday life.
How it fits with coaching
I think of energy work and coaching as complementary. Coaching works with the conscious mind — clarity, decisions, action. Energy work tends to the subtler layer beneath — the held emotions and patterns that can make the conscious work feel stuck. Many clients move between both, and the two tend to support each other.
If you're curious whether energy work might be a fit for what you're navigating, the simplest next step is a single session. You'll know quickly whether the approach resonates with you.
